2010

2010 looks like an exciting year.

First, I have two new shows to kick off the year, currently a new show is up at the Gallery at Ditch Edit and in March a new show will go up at The Conduit Gallery! More information soon.

I have already shared with many of you that in addtion to my painting and being a stay at home dad I am completing my bachelor's degree at the University of Minnesota this year. After I complete my bachelor's degree my goal is to become a teacher in the elementary or early childhood area. The combintation of working with children and painting should result in some new visual understanding for me as Ipaint.

This January I am working daily in the studio and will be posting new work soon.

thanks

Eddie

I consider myself to be an abstract painter, or maybe more of an expressionist, although I like to think I have my own vibe going on. My current art work is focusing more and more on our relationships with those around us, those we are close to and those we keep our distance from. It's my hope to capture the emotion of these relationships with very simple characters, colors and the juxtaposition of it all.

Artist Associations.
I was a member of Rosalux Gallery in Minneapolis from 2006 to 2008. My art work has been seen in collections from the Harvard Arts Department to private Hollywood homes, and countless Minneapolis locations.

My studio is in the Northrup King Building in the Minneapolis Arts District, I also work out of my home studio in South Minneapolis.

The paintings.
Currently, a lot of my art is what I consider to be large, at least 4 feet by 4 feet. Once I started painting in this size I felt I really was able to communicate fully my characters and the relationships they find themselves in.

A little history of the art.
My paintings have evolved a lot over time. I really enjoyed painting still life's, working with the traditional compositions, colors and subjects. Well, in high school my art teacher, Merl Clercx once said, "what else can you do?". I've taken the spirit of that statement forward in my work today. I am more interested in capturing the emotion of life through color and energy in my painting than anything else. Simplicity and humor are two tools that help me reach this goal.
